I’ve always valued God’s timing, but experiencing two nearly identical moments back-to-back made me recognize that value in a much deeper way.
The first happened when a close friend invited me into a project. It wasn't approached prayerfully. We moved from excitement and even though what we created was beautiful, there was a block in my spirit afterwards☹️. I later realized it was because I hadn’t consulted with God about doing it, or how to go about it. I know God can still use it, but it simply wasn't time. I was honest with my friend about what I was feeling and that I needed more time to pray about it. It was then decided the project would not move ahead.
Another friend came to me about something similar not too long after this, and she had been praying about it for a while. I had also felt a nudge towards interviewing more people about their testimonies, which is what she asked me to do. This time I fasted. I surrendered my excitement and fleshly desires, and peace followed.
The crazy thing is, my friend (the first one) also experienced divine alignment with another person right after. They both prayed about specific things they were seeking which made their connection and collaboration so pure. They experienced breakthroughs and it was definitely Spirit-led. God is so good!!😭 So it was like a parallel of similar experiences.
Watching these moments unfold solidified it for me:
There is a clear difference between doing something for God and doing something with God.
God can still bless others through something you do or create without His leading, but (and this is a big BUT) you will feel unsettled if you didn’t include Him in the process. I'm reminded of Moses striking the rock. Everyone was still refreshed by the action (because of God), but Moses had to feel the disconnection from God for a while for not doing as he was told. A reminder to all to slow down and check in with God first. Make sure your posture is correct, even if it means pressing pause on something until God instructs otherwise.
I pray for more opportunities for Spirit-led moments, for me and for those of you seeking the same. I declare it in Jesus’ name!!
Scripture to dive deeper into:
1 Samuel 15:22
Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
Galatians 5:25
If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
